Andrew Nicholson was in triumphant mood at this year’s Barbury Horse Trials with three fantastic wins at the Wiltshire event.
The TopSpec-sponsored rider was in superlative form in the CCI4*-S riding the11-year-old Swallow Springs.
This is Andrew’s sixth win at this level at the event as he retains his title as the ‘King of Barbury’.
After a great dressage test and with a clear showjumping round, the unbeatable pair produced the second fasted time of the day with a solid ride across country.
Said Andrew: “Swallow Springs felt like Avebury [four-time winner at Barbury] going round the cross-country – he’s got stacks of speed and is a pleasure to ride.
Andrew also celebrated with another fantastic win at the event when he finished in first place with the Spanish bred As Is in section B of the CCI3*-S.
Starting in second place after the dressage phase the pair then went clear showjumping, and arrived home with a brilliant cross-country time.
Adding to his great event Andrew also secured a Novice section with the talented Damaso to round off a brilliant Barbury.
