Show Hunter Inca Turns In Winning Performances

HORSE owner Judy Pearson is celebrating a fantastic run of form with her Heavyweight Show Hunter, Golden Inca Cross.HW Champ Adrrahan

Judy, who is based in North Tipperary, Ireland, bought Inca when he was just six-months-old from the sales and now six-years-old he is turning into a real star in the show ring.

Inca now stands a magnificent 17.2hh and following the important early work carried out, he is now ridden by Patricia Hoermann with Judy’s guidance at home.

Last year he was ridden by friend and show rider Barry McCaughey of his own Valley Stables Clogher, Co Tyrone, they won two Irish Draught Championships in England, at Aintree and Bakewell as well as taking the Hunter Championship and Reserve Supreme Championship at Tralee, and the Heavyweight Hunter class at Athlone. Barry opened 2014 with a win at The Northern Festival, Cavan, he regards Inca so highly, he gave up the ride, suggesting this “special horse” requires a more local consistent rider to take Inca to the wins he deserves.

So the season continued with Patricia and Inca launching their partnership in fantastic form heading the Heavyweight class at Ballivor Show.

Further success followed at the Equifestival Show also at Cavan, when they qualified for the Royal International Horse Show winning the Heavyweight Hunter class and took the Amateur Championship.

Ardrahan Show also brought another win for the team receiving further accolades when taking the Heavyweight prize and Hunter Championship.

Said Judy: “We are so thrilled with Inca, he is fabulous, a natural with excellent movement and he also gives the judge a fantastic ride.  He is in superb condition and although we have excellent grass and grazing at Gurteen College, where we are based, I am sure feeding him on a TopSpec feed regime has also played a big part and given us the edge.

“Inca is fed on TopSpec Comprehensive Feed Balancer and TopSpec Super Conditioning Flakes and looks brilliant, with a real shine and lustre to his coat and the correct muscle tone for such a big horse who is still developing.”

Judy is fortunate to have excellent facilities at Gurteen College, where her husband Mike is College Principal, and she is grateful that everyone really supports the team in their efforts.

A ride across the water to compete in England with the aim of qualifying for the Horse of the Year Show is next on the cards for the team who are hoping for further success.
