DEVON-based Tim Rogers is the winner of the prestigious 2011 TopSpec Eventing Scholarship.
Tim (19) has worked with some of the biggest names in the sport including Lucy Wiegersma and Pippa Funnell and has now gone solo setting up his own yard in a bid to make it to the top in eventing.
Riding Corrieview Owen, a home-bred prospect, Tim has had a successful junior eventing career picking up an individual bronze medal at the Junior Europeans. Tim has also been part of the World Class development programme since 2009.
Said Tim: “I was so excited when I heard I had been selected as the winner of the this year’s TopSpec Scholarship.
“This is my first sponsorship support since setting up my yard and business and it is a great boost. I already feed TopSpec and to have them on hand for nutritional help and advice is a huge bonus.
“To have good quality nutrition and the correct feed regimes for the horses is part and parcel of developing a good team and this season my horses will really benefit from the very best expertise.”
Tim’s prizes include a year’s supply of TopSpec Comprehensive Feed Balancer and TopSpec CoolCondition Cubes; plus supplements and additives for two horses for 12 months, a cross-country training bursary of £500, horse and rider clothing, and ongoing nutritional support from an experienced TopSpec nutritionist.
“The nutritional advice and training bursary will be invaluable. I have four talented horses and feel very lucky to now have support from TopSpec as well,” he added.
Tim’s top ride Corrieview Owen is on good form and he has a host of novice horses and youngsters to produce.
The 2011 TopSpec Eventing Scholarship also saw two runner-up places awarded with these going to Devon-based Katie Bleekman, aged 18, and Nottinghamshire-based Georgina Norton, aged 21, who both have their sights firmly set on the top of their chosen sport
